It was a successful weekend for Chelmsford City who returned triumphant from competing in the Keele International Cup by winning the Recreational Plate Competition.
Staged at Keele University, the Clarets won the uniquely named 'Wild Thang Trophy Cup' Competition.
On Saturday, City opened with a narrow 2-1 loss to North West Regional League runners-up, Blackpool, with new signing Georgia Lindsell netting for City. They then went down by the only goal to Falkirk before beating Prestatyn Town 2-0 with Zoe Strong and Leanne Stubbings on the scoresheet.
On Sunday, City opened up with a 2-0 win against Wigton Moor, Lynsey Bowman netting a brace, putting them through to a semi final place. Strong Scottish League side Dundee proved tough opposition but Bowman grabbed the only goal to set up a rematch with Prestatyn Town in the Final.
After falling behind via an own goal, Jasmine Wheeler levelled the scores before Mollie DeBell stabbed home the winner which saw City lift the trophy with a 2-1 victory to round off a good weekend.
