A girls' football team from North Yorkshire will start the new season wearing a brand new sponsored strip after winning Host Your Kit, a nationwide competition organised by UK cloud computing company iomart Hosting.
Scotton Scorchers Under-15s, from the village of Scotton just outside Knaresborough, is one of three girls' teams across the UK to have won Host Your Kit. The competition was launched by iomart Hosting to help youth football teams across the UK that were struggling to find sponsorship in the current financial climate. Teams simply had to explain why they deserved a new kit and the best stories won.
Jane Robertson, marketing manager for iomart Hosting, said: "We were particularly delighted to present Scotton Scorchers with their new kit on the eve of the women's Olympic football tournament. The club has set a great example for the women's game by ensuring that these teenage girls are still passionate about playing and enjoying the game. We hope this new kit encourages them to stay involved with football for many years to come."
Andrew Black, Scotton Scorchers Under-15s coach, said: "Winning Host Your Kit is a massive boost for our team. This is the age at which a lot of girls give up football so we hope that this great looking new kit will give our players that extra incentive to stay with the sport and maybe even attract a few more teenage girls to get involved."
Scotton Scorchers told Host Your Kit that their club had grown from just a handful of children to over 130 players in a decade. The Under-15s team had been together since primary school and had worn the same kit for several years because all of the club's fundraising had gone towards paying for a new pavilion.
Last year the club fielded its first Under-15 team and the new kit will be worn by those girls as they embark on their new league campaign as Under-16s in the City of York Girls' League this season.
In all, 30 youth football teams across Scotland, England and Wales will win an iomart Hosting sponsored adidas football kit via the company's partnership with sports retailer Greaves Sports.
Andrew Black added: "This new kit from iomart Hosting will allow us some breathing space with club funds. Winning Host Your Kit came as a complete surprise to the girls and we'd like to thank iomart Hosting for its generosity and in particular for supporting women's football."
Phil Worms, Director of Marketing for iomart Hosting, commented: "As a leading cloud computing company we host the data and web applications for many successful businesses across the UK and with 2012 being such a massive year for sport we can now be the best host for football kits too."
Sandy Greaves, Managing Director of Greaves Sports, said: "We're delighted to be a partner in this great football kit giveaway with iomart Hosting. We hope Scotton Scorchers are inspired to even greater success by wearing a top quality football strip."
iomart Hosting provides managed and cloud hosting services to many SME and enterprise organisations across the private and public sector from its five UK data centres.
