Team GB defender Ifeoma Dieke has been forced to withdraw from the Olympic Games following a serious knee injury sustained in Saturday's 3-0 win over Cameroon.
Dieke, a full Scotland international, suffered the setback midway through the second half of the Millennium Stadium encounter. She is suspected to have ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament.
Hope Powell, Team GB Team Manager, said: "This is devastating news for Iffy, and for the rest of the team. Iffy had settled into the squad so well and had quickly become an integral part of our success so far.
"I am sure she has the character to return to full fitness over time, but it is obviously a very sad moment for her and for Team GB.
"I am sure the rest of the squad will want to wish her a speedy recovery."
Hope will now call upon the services of standby player Dunia Susi, pending confirmation from the IOC and FIFA.
