Charlton Athletic picked up their first silverware of the season when beating Millwall Lionesses 2-0 in the Lewisham Festival Fusion Women's Cup at Blackheath.
The Addicks took the lead after fifteen minutes when a Gemma Shepherd shot was blocked by a defender and Charley Clifford picked up the rebound on the edge of the area to fire low into the bottom corner of the goal.
A great run by Liz Ejupi saw the Albanian international send a 20-yard shot dipping over the bar and Ellie Stenning was also just off target as Charlton sought to increase their lead.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Charlton netted their second goal as Shepherd controlled a throw in from Stef Simmons and clipped a superb shot into the top corner.
Millwall's best opportunity came when Emma Whitter's cross picked out Abi Igbavboa but she headed wide with only Kelly Cooper to beat. Charlton hit back with Stenning having a shot saved and Jade Keogh firing just wide but there was no further scoring and they closed the game out.
Paul Mortimer has been busy strengthening his Charlton squad over the past few weeks including the signings of defender Sarah Jones from Gillingham, Emma Sherwood from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea youngster Annabel Prior.
