Cardiff Met Ladies' first ever match in the UEFA Women's Champions League turned out to be a baptism of fire as they were beaten 5-0 by ASA Tel-Aviv in Sarajevo.
The Welsh Champions were put on the back foot from the start as they found themselves a goal behind in the opening minute when Falkon scored. Tel-Aviv then went further ahead five minutes later through Shenar.
Cardiff Met tried to get themselves back into the game and Nadia Lawrence had a shot blocked but Friedman put the Israeli side three up just after the half hour mark.
Shenar completed her double early in the second half and Falkon netted the fifth goal on 62 minutes
Cardiff Met will be looking to bounce back from this setback when they play their second match on Monday against group hosts WFC SFK 2000 Sarajevo, who defeated Peamount Utd 4-0 in the other game.
Cardiff Met Ladies: Abbie Morrissey, Siobhan Humphrey, Ellen Huxtable, Holly Broad (sub Jenny Gray 79mins), Emily Brown, Dana Hinton, Chloe Bassett, Sophie Scherschel (sub Kim Cheffey 77mins), Robyn Pinder, Emily Allen, Nadia Lawrence. Sub not used: Sophie Dando.
