New home for Wolves
 Women's Football News 15 Aug 2012

New home for Wolves - 15 Aug 2012 - Women's Football NewsWolves Women are preparing to kick off their new season in style this Sunday - in a new league, at a new ground.

These are exciting times for the club, after they secured a League and Cup double last season, winning promotion to the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division.

The new league will see them take on teams including Newcastle United, Leicester City, and local rivals Sporting Club Albion. They open their campaign on Sunday 19th August when they entertain Blackburn Rovers at their new ground - Castlecroft Stadium.

Castlecroft is the home of AFC Wulfrunians, who play in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division. The stadium is regarded by many as the best ground at this level of football in the country and Wolves Women are delighted to have secured a deal with the club which will see them make Castlecroft their new home.

After a tour of the stadium, Club Captain Anna Perks is looking forward to settling in. She said: "We're really excited about playing on such a fantastic pitch and being involved with such a great set up.

"With the stadium, changing rooms, refreshment area and physio rooms being of the highest quality, we couldn't ask for anything more to start our new campaign in the National Northern Premier League."

Manager James Astle was delighted at the announcement. "I'm really pleased for the team and all involved to have these facilities," he said.

"Moving to such a fantastic venue dovetails nicely with our Premier League status, somewhere that we can be proud to entertain any opponents.

"The players are very much looking forward to quickly turning this into their own fortress. We are very fortunate as facilities like these are very few and far between."

Wolves Women Chairperson Jenny Wilkes added: "With the profile of women's football at an all-time high after the Olympics, we're hoping that Wolves fans will come and support their women's team.

"We couldn't ask for better facilities, and hope to give spectators some real entertainment this term."

Admission to matches is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions and Wolves season-ticket holders (on production of a season ticket). Castlecroft Stadium is in Castlecroft Road, Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, WV3 8NA.

Games are played on Sunday afternoons with a 2pm kick off, starting this Sunday against Blackburn Rovers.
