New Leeds boss set for first game
 Women's Football News 17 Aug 2012
Leeds United Ladies get their 2012-13 FA Women's Premier League campaign underway on Sunday 19th August when they host Cardiff City Ladies.
Kick off at Throstle Nest, home of Farsley AFC, is at 2pm, and will be the first competitive game in charge for new manager Andy Burgess, who was appointed over the summer when Chris Welburn stepped down to concentrate on work and academic studies.
Burgess is no stranger to the club however, having assisted Rick Passmoor during the club's League Cup-winning run in 2009-10, and knows well how to set the team up for the new season.
"It has been an interesting few weeks in the build up to the new season," he said, "but I believe the players are prepared, both physically and mentally, for the months ahead. We have been fortunate to keep the nucleus of the squad together from last year and that has been pleasing considering how well the club did in the last
campaign. The players we have brought in will help, and I believe we have plugged certain gaps that were maybe missing last term.
"The group I have is absolutely the fittest, most together and most focused squad I have ever worked with and I am confident we can have an enjoyable and successful campaign."
Last season saw the club finish second in the league by one point to Sunderland, who also beat them in the League Cup Final but Burgess isn't letting that influence him - or the team.
"I have set the players one target for the season and one target only - to win the next game. They will not be looking at league tables, future fixtures or talking about ifs and buts. The only thing we can affect is our own performance in the next game we play - if we do that, the table takes care of itself."
Entry to Sunday's game costs £4 adults and £2 all concessions and Leeds United Members/Season Ticket holders. A £10 family ticket for two adults and two children is also available.
