The latest Women's World Ranking list has been published by FIFA today following the conclusion of the Olympic Games football tournament.
Despite not being officially involved in the tournament (Team GB's performances do not count for any of the home nations), England have actually moved back up a place to eighth due to Korea DPR dropping three places and out of the top ten.
Scotland meanwhile have gone down one position to 22nd, due to New Zealand's achievement of making it as far as the quarter finals.
However the continuing emergence of Wales is still gathering pace and they are the highest climbers in the list, moving up six places to share 37th with Belarus - moving into the top 40 for the first time - following an impressive run of results for Jarmo Matikainen's side. Northern Ireland hold steady in 53rd place.
United States' gold medal success has seen them extend their lead at the top of the rankings from Germany, who stay second despite not being involved in the Olympics. Japan stay third whilst Brazil and France move back above Sweden with Canada still in seventh place.
The next World Ranking list will be released on 7th December.
