Arsenal peg back Everton
 Women's Football News 19 Aug 2012
Everton 2 (Williams 34, Bronze 66) Arsenal 2 (Little pen 53, Nobbs 78)
Arsenal twice came from behind to salvage a point and maintain their unbeaten record at the top of the FA WSL table.
The home side went into the game on the back of a good run of form in the league and, after needing to soak up early pressure, went in front on 34 minutes when Fara Williams won the ball 30 yards from goal and ran unchallenged before slotting her shot past Emma Byrne.
Rachel Brown pulled off a brilliant save to deny Kelly Smith an equaliser just before half time but early in the second half, Everton thought they had gone two ahead when Jody Handley headed home but their celebrations were cut short by an offside flag.
Arsenal got themselves back on level terms seven minutes later when Gemma Davison was brought down by Lucy Bronze in the area and Kim Little tucked home the resulting penalty for her tenth league goal of the season.
Bronze was to atone for this though, midway through the second half, after Arsenal failed to clear a corner by Williams and Toni Duggan headed the ball back across the face of goal for the central defender to restore Everton's lead.
It looked as though Everton were going to repeat their win in the same fixture last year - Arsenal's last WSL defeat - and they almost made it three when Natasha Dowie's header was cleared off the line.
However with twelve minutes remaining, Jordan Nobbs equalised once again for the Gunners with a well struck shot, having only come on as a substitute two minutes earlier.
The result keeps Arsenal five points clear at the top with Everton holding on to second place.
Everton: Rachel Brown, Brooke Chaplen, Alex Greenwood, Fara Williams, Lucy Bronze, Lindsay Johnson, Jody Handley, Jill Scott, Natasha Dowie, Amy Kane, Toni Duggan. Subs: Danielle Hill, Michelle Hinnigan, Gwennan Harries, Becky Easton, Nikita Parris, Eartha Pond.
