City make formal links with main club
 Women's Football News 10 Sep 2012

Manchester City Football Club is delighted to announce a formal partnership with Manchester City Ladies FC.

This announcement marks an exciting new era for City Ladies who, having recently been promoted into the Women's National Division - the second highest tier in UK women's football - aspire to play at the very top level of the game.

The partnership will have wide-ranging benefits for the women's team, including access to coaches from the Manchester City Academy, which at the beginning of August became one of the first in the Premier League to be granted Category 1 status in the EPPP, the Premier League's new youth development programme.

Over time, MCLFC will benefit from the commercial, marketing and operational capabilities of the football club, which will support the development of the women and girls' teams and their target of entry into the Women's Super League.

The commitment to MCLFC follows a systematic rebuilding of all aspects of the football club over the past four years and the recognition of the need to formalise the relationship for the benefit of the women and girls' game.

Don Dransfield, Head of Strategy at Manchester City Football Club said: "Manchester City Football Club has always been committed to sharing its football resources and coaching capabilities across a wide range of ages and abilities.

"The women's game is continuing to grow at a pace with 28 million girls and women playing football worldwide, making it the most popular female participating team sport. We are pleased to be able to give our support to MCLFC as they look to build on their hard work and commitment of the past few years."

Niki Taylor, Vice Chairperson of Manchester City Ladies Football Club added: "MCLFC have a longstanding relationship with Manchester City and today's formalised partnership announcement represents a new era for us. We are delighted with this development and enthused by the potential to further expand and progress our football at all levels."
