It goes without saying really that we are entering the most important few days our international careers when we play Wales and France, looking to at least secure the point we need to book our place into Euro 2013 play-offs.
Leading up to these final two qualifying matches, the mood in the squad has been positive. Everyone is working really hard on and off the pitch to prepare for these games. We have a great team spirit and that will stand us in good stead leading into the final round of qualifiers.
We aim to go into every game we play with a winning mentality and Saturday's game with Wales will be no different. There is still a possibility that we could qualify automatically as the best second place team so that is our aim.
Drawing with Wales at home last year was a disappointing result for us, however we have bounced back well and put ourselves in a great position. Reflecting on that game, we felt we started the game slowly and it took us conceding two goals to really get going. We will obviously be looking to improve on that and be raring to go come kick off time on Saturday.
Wales will be a tough opponent to overcome as they are, like us, an improving nation. Home nation matches are always going to be tough regardless of who is playing, they will come out fighting for everything and we will have to be prepared to match that. Add that to the fact that they are playing on home soil and they will be a good challenge for us.
France are in great form at the moment and will be a difficult opponent when they visit Tynecastle on Wednesday but I do believe that we are capable of getting a result against them. First and foremost however we will be taking one game at a time and concentrating on nothing else except the match on Saturday against Wales.
We have played a couple of really tough challenge matches in the lead up to these games and the recent draw against Norway was a great game for us to have. We had some regular faces unavailable for the game, which gave us the opportunity to give more game time to other players, this in turn showed that we have got great strength in depth in the squad and whoever is playing is more than capable of doing a job for the team.
To reach the play-offs would be an incredible achievement but we don't just want it to stop there. Reaching the finals in Sweden next year is our main goal, the play-offs are our stepping stone. For us to qualify for the European Championships would not only be a huge success for women's football in this country but also for Scottish football in general.
It has been a long time since the men or women have qualified for a major tournament and to qualify as a member of this squad would be a dream come true.
