Sunday saw the FA Girls' Football Festival supported by Continental Tyres, Sport England and UEFA come to Hartsholme Country Park, Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln.
More than 100 girls aged seven upwards from clubs from across the region and girls just dropping in and playing for the first time, took part in the free programme led by FA coaches and aimed at encouraging girls to get involved in the game.
They were accompanied by Sophie Bradley and Jess Clarke, Team GB, England and FA Women's Super League (FA WSL) players from Lincoln Ladies.
The stars of the league made an appearance prior to their last home match of the FA WSL season. Lincoln Ladies were hosting Everton at Ashby Avenue, Lincoln. All the girls taking part in the Festival were offered a free ticket for the game, which the Lady Imps won 2-1.
Activities included interactive games and competitions, the ContiWarmUp programme, skills and drills, prizes and goodies, hair braiders, face painters, and digital stations to entertain the girls during breaks from playing. Participants also had the chance to pose with the FA WSL trophy.
Sophie Bradley and Jess Clarke interacted with the kids and a Q & A was held to give the girls an insight into the life of a semi-professional female footballer. They signed autographs and had her photo taken with participants.
The initiative has already visited 22 venues throughout England in 2012 providing hundreds of girls aged 5-17 with an exciting, interactive football experience.
The next Festival is on Wednesday 10 October at Barnet FC, ahead of the Continental Cup Final between Arsenal and Birmingham City (kick off 7pm).
