Glasgow City 1 (J.Ross 76) Fortuna Hjorring 2 (Nadim 3,31)
A second half strike from Jane Ross gave Glasgow City hope but they have it all to do in the second leg after going down 2-1 at home to Fortuna Hjorring in their UEFA Women's Champions League tie.
The Scottish Champions got off to the worst possible start when Nadia Nadim gave the Danish side the lead after just three minutes of play.
Ruesha Littlejohn shot wide and Jane Ross had a shot saved by Maria Christensen but worse was to come as Nadim netted her second goal just after the half hour mark and then Fortuna were awarded a penalty moments before the half time break when Eilish McSorley was adjudged to have fouled Chichi Igbo in the area. However, Claire Johnstone came to her side's rescue as she denied Nadim a hat-trick by saving the resulting spot kick.
City stepped up their game after the break and Jane Ross almost pulled a goal back but her effort hit the woodwork. At the other end, Tiffany Weimer had a good chance to put Fortuna further ahead but Johnstone again saved.
Emma Mitchell went close as her free kick was saved by Christensen but City were to grab themselves a lifeline with fourteen minutes when Jane Ross reduced the arrears.
