Sheffield FC made it four wins out of four and lead the Northern Division by three points after winning their top of the table clash 4-0 away to Newcastle Utd.
Lynn Goodman opened the scoring before Jodie Michalska put the Yorkshire side in control by netting either side of half time. Kayleigh Mitchell added the fourth late on to maintain Sheffield's perfect start to the season in the league.
Preston North End meanwhile moved up into fourth place, thanks to a narrow 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Dani Selmes headed Wolves into an early lead from a Becky Hall corner before Gemma Watson levelled the scores shortly before half time and substitute Melissa Brown settled matters in Preston's favour with four minutes remaining.
Leicester City got themselves off the mark with their first win of the season, 4-2 away to Sporting Club Albion. Natalie Reay gave Leicester a first half lead which was cancelled out two minutes later by Robyn James, with Roschelle Shakes putting City back in front before the interval. James levelled matters once again on the hour with her second goal but two strikes from Issy Hayes secured the points for Leicester and lifted them off the bottom of the table.
