Goal spree takes Cardiff Met clear
 Women's Football News 12 Nov 2012

Cardiff Metropolitan Ladies ran riot against Caerphilly Castle to open up a lead of three points at the top of the Welsh Premier Women's League.

After the university side had suffered their first defeat seven days later, Caerphilly may well have caught the backlash as Emily Brown netted eight times and Adele Hooper weighed in with a further five. Jas Thomas, Steff Turner, Emily Allen, Dana Hinton and Hannah Billingham all added a goal apiece to complete the tally.

With Llanidloes' match at Caernarfon Town having been postponed, Cardiff City FC took the opportunity to replace them in second by winning 3-0 at Swansea City. Catherine Walsh gave Cardiff the lead midway through the first half and the game remained in the balance until the last five minutes, when Walsh completed her double and Amy Wathan added the third to seal the points for their side.

Wrexham moved into the top four with a 6-1 victory over Newcastle Emlyn. Steph Taylor, Lowri Edwards and Syd Hinchcliffe all scored in the opening half hour for the home side and although Stacey John pulled a goal back, Lyndsey Rodger netted a fourth on the stroke of half time. Rodger and Edwards went on to complete braces during the second half to help Wrexham to their third successive win.

Port Talbot Town put the disappointment of their defeat seven days earlier to beat Northop Hall 7-1 and move back into the top half. Northop did take a third minute lead via an Andrea Reece penalty but Jessica Wadey and Jesci Hare soon put Port Talbot in front with Coryn Sexton and Laura Williams extending their lead ahead of the interval. Wadey and Williams each netted their second goals after the break with Gaby Pugsley wrapping up the win late on.

Llandudno Junction had a good day on their trip to Aberystwyth Town, running out 4-0 winners to take themselves out of the bottom three. Stacey Tradewell opened the scoring on fifteen minutes with Sofie Owen and Rhiannon Mahoney adding further goals just ahead of half time. Mahoney completed the win with her second goal shortly before the hour mark.
