Sheffield FC preserved their two point lead at the top of the Northern Division by running out 4-0 winners away to Derby County.
Lisa Giampalma gave Sheffield a seventh minute lead which was doubled just before the half hour by Emma Johnson. Carla Ward added the third with fifteen minutes remaining and Suzanne Davies rounded off the scoring late on.
Preston North End continue to chase after Sheffield and stay hard on their heels after beating Nottingham Forest 1-0. Gemma Watson scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark to boost Preston's challenge and deal a blow to Forest's hopes.
The teams who had been occupying the bottom two positions came face to face and it was Wolverhampton Wanderers who picked up three valuable points from a 1-0 victory over Leicester City. The game was settled in injury time when Wolves' in-form striker Dani Selmes converted a cross from Philippa Wilson for her sixth goal of the season, which takes her side out of the bottom two.
