Sunderland maintained their unbeaten start to the season but needed to come from behind twice to earn themselves a point from a 2-2 draw with Watford.
Watford, the only team to have taken points off the Wearsiders this season, defended solidly during the opening stages and took the lead on 34 minutes when Sarah Wiltshire broke through the Sunderland defence and squared for Jo Wilson to score. Parity was restored soon afterwards as Beth Mead volleyed home a cross from Steph Bannon.
Wilson netted her second on the hour mark to put Watford back in front again and the Golden Girls fought hard to keep the home side at bay but Mead salvaged a point late on with a close range finish for her ninth goal of the season.
Despite a fine result, Watford actually slip a place in the table due to Manchester City lifting themselves into the top four with a 1-0 victory over Barnet. The Bees were boosted by the return of prolific striker Stacey Sowden but are still searching their first win of the season. The only goal of the game came on the half hour when Lindsay Savage's through ball played in Krystle Johnston to score.
