Holland 2 Wales 0
Wales' final match of the year ended in defeat when a goal late in each half gave victory to the home side as they start their preparations for next year's Euro 2013 Finals.
There was little to choose between the sides in the opening half, but Netherlands took the lead after 40 minutes from a low shot by Sylvia Smit.
In the second half the Netherlands took more control of the game, but Wales lost a great chance to get back on equal terms when captain Jessica Fishlock missed a penalty on 55 minutes, the goalkeeper making a good save.
The second goal for Netherlands came on the final whistle through Sherida Spitse from some way out to cap a good afternoon for the home team.
However, there was plenty for Wales manager Jarmo Matikainen to be pleased with. He has taken the opportunity to make seven changes from his last starting line up, giving some of his squad players a start as he was without main central striker Helen Lander and so Hannah Keryakoplis had an opportunity up front. He also welcomed Helen Bleazard back to the squad after several months absence and gave youngsters Hayley Ladd and Angharad James starts in midfield in place of the experienced Michelle Green and Gwennan Harries. In goal, the patient Rhian Nokes started in place of regular custodian Nicola Davies. Under-19 captain and defender Lauren Price also started with Kylie Davies dropping out for this game.
The experience gained by these squad players will further be enhanced with the Wales participation in the Algarve Cup invitation tournament in the spring of 2013 that will see four games played in Portugal in just over a week as further preparation for the forthcoming Women's World Cup qualifiers.
Wales: Rhian Nokes, Loren Dykes, Sophie Ingle, Nia Jones, Lauren Price, Jessica Fishlock, Angharad James, Hayley Ladd, Hannah Keryakoplis, Sarah Wiltshire, Helen Bleazard. Subs: Nicola Davies, Natasha Harding, Ellie Curson, Michelle Green, Jodie Botteril, Josie Green, Nadia Lawrence.
