Watford took top spot in Group Five in the Premier League Cup by winning the deciding match 1-0 away to Barnet.
Both teams had already qualified for the knockout stages but going into the game it was Barnet, winners of the Cup in 2011, who led the table with a 100% record and Watford needed nothing less than a victory in order to overhaul them.
Although they were without Sarah Wiltshire and Josie Green who were on international duty with Wales, the Golden Girls managed to pick up the result they needed with Cally Rowell scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to stretch her side's unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions.
Only one other game managed to survive the atrocious weather across the country and it produced something of a sensational result. Brighton & Hove Albion secured their passage into the next phase with an excellent 4-0 victory away to fellow Southern Division high fliers Millwall Lionesses.
The first half ended goalless but after the break, the deadlock was broken when Kirsty Barton gave Brighton the lead from close range. Kim Stenning added the second via a far post header and Catherine O'Hagan then put the Seagulls further ahead. Stenning kept up her superb form in front of goal to score her second and Brighton's fourth late on.
Brighton therefore are likely to take the runners-up position in Group Two unless leaders Charlton Athletic are beaten by three clear goals by Lewes in the final match.
