Injury time goal keeps Champions ahead
 Women's Football News 10 Dec 2012

A late, late strike kept Cardiff Met Ladies three points clear at the top of the Welsh Premier Women's League on Sunday.

The league leaders' match away to fifth placed Newcastle Emlyn looked to be heading towards a goalless draw but in the first minute on injury time, Natasha Harding scored the only goal of the game to preserve the reigning Champions' advantage.

Cardiff City FC remain hard on their heels in second place as they swept to a 5-0 victory away to Llanidloes. The first half was goalless but six minutes after the restart, former Wales captain Emma Jones gave Cardiff the lead and she went on to complete her double, with Amy Wathan bagging a hat-trick.

The top three are starting to pull away from the sides immediately below them and they are completed by Wrexham who notched up their fifth successive win, 2-1 against Swansea City. Liv Hull gave Wrexham a 34th minute lead and although Jodie Passmore levelled matters for the Swans early in the second half, Lowri Edwards grabbed a winner for the North Wales side with seven minutes remaining.

Llandudno Junction added to Caerphilly Castle's problems with a 26-0 victory which leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table. Sarah Lawson led the scoring with a seven-goal haul and Sofie Owen weighed in with six, while Simone Drummond was on target four times. Stephanie Short hit a hat-trick and the tally was completed by Stacey Treadwell (2), Gail Naylor (2), Jennifer Davies and Katie Lucas.

Aberystwyth Town meanwhile moved above Northop Hall in the table by beating them 4-2. Ashley Hayes gave Northop a tenth minute lead which was quickly cancelled out by Ffiona Evans. Gemma Kay and Sam Gaunt both scored early in the second half to give Aber a two-goal advantage and although Andrea Reece pulled a goal back for the home side, Gaunt had the final say and her second goal sealed victory for Aberystwyth.
