Wales goalkeeper, Nicky Davies, has been voted RAF Sportswoman of the Year for 2012.
It is a great honour for Nicky who has been outstanding for Wales over the last few seasons. It is the second major award she has picked up in as many months, having also being named as Goalkeeper of the Year at the FA Women's Football Awards.
Many nominees were put forward and then three individuals were shortlisted. Nicky was up against an RAF Power lifter and RAF Luge competitor.
Nicky said: "It was so overwhelming to win the award. When I heard my name being called I was shocked. The citations about the other two athletes were amazing and I thought it was going to be one of them for sure. I am very grateful to the RAF for all the opportunities it has given me to play football. I am so fortunate to be able to represent club, country, service and combined service teams.
"I have now been shortlisted for Combined Service Sportswoman of the year, a very prestigious event which takes place in March next year."
Nicky received the award from Chief of the Air Staff, Sir Stephen Dalton.
