Wales have announced that they will play in Greece in a women's international friendly in January.
The match will be played at Glifada, south of Athens, on Tuesday 15th January 2013. The friendly will be a further part of the build up to the next FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign, which will start next season. Wales will also be taking part once again in the annual Algarve Cup Tournament in Portugal in the spring.
The match with Greece will be the fifth time the sides have met. Previous results have been:
02.02.1997. Greece 2 Wales 2 (Nafplio, Greece) (F)
20.04.1997. Wales 0 Greece 0 (Llanelli, Wales) (F)
10.03.2003. Greece 2 Wales 0 (Lagoa, Portugal) (Algarve Cup)
14.03.2004. Greece 1 Wales 0 (Faro, Portugal) (Algarve Cup)
Wales recently lost 2-0 in the Netherlands in another friendly match, following the end of the UEFA Women's Euro qualifiers that saw them grouped with France, Scotland, Rep.Ireland and Israel. In that competition, Wales just missed out on a play-off spot when Scotland defeated them 2-1 in the final group match at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli, in September.
