Sunderland maintained their five point lead at the top of the National Division as six first half goals set them on their way to a 7-0 victory over Portsmouth.
Keira Ramshaw gave the Wearsiders an early lead which was quickly doubled through a powerful strike from Rachel Furness. Beth Mead soon added to their lead and Ramshaw netted her second, before Kelly McDougall and Natalie Gutteridge also found the net before half time. Mead rounded off the victory after the break with her second goal and eleventh of the season.
The only other game to survive the weather was at Watford where the home side consolidated themselves in second place by beating Barnet 3-0. The first half ended goalless but the Golden Girls took the lead three minutes after the restart when Sarah Wiltshire scored from the penalty spot. Josie Green doubled the advantage five minutes later with a superbly executed finish from Wiltshire's long ball and after Barnet goalkeeper Cherie Rowlands had made good saves to deny Wiltshire and Renee Hector, leading scorer Jo Wilson completed the scoring in the dying minutes.
