Westfield are having a good run in the F.A.Women's Cup and they will be seeking to reach the Third Round for the first time in their history when they play host to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Having added to their squad during the season, Paul Nicholls's side have delivered a number of excellent performances, showing great character and determination. Currently, they lie in fourth place in the London & South East Regional Premier Division and are heavily involved in a five-team battle for title. They will be looking to push on in the New Year, when we play the teams that are just above us. Westfield are also safely through to the quarter final stage of the Surrey County Cup, which sees them face South Park.
So far, Westfield have played four rounds of the F.A.Women's Cup having beaten Dartford, Eastbourne, Ebbsfleet United and MSA Ladies. Their reward is a prestigious home Second Round tie with Premier League Southern Division side, Brighton & Hove Albion on 6th January.
This is the furthest round they have ever reached in the competition and the game promises to be a fantastic occasion against an excellent team such as Brighton. Westfield are hoping for a good crowd to help spur the ladies on!
"Our aim is to improve on last season and with a great deal of hard work, I'm sure this will happen," says secretary Stephen Kick.
Westfield captain Emma Barnes told Women's Soccer Scene: "We have a really good squad this season, a talented bunch of players and this has enabled us to start the season well.
"There is a really good atmosphere at the club and real belief, the girls and Paul (Nicholls) have worked so hard and this is one of the reasons that we have had such a good run in the FA Cup.
"This is the furthest that the club have got in this competition and everyone is committed to do as well as we can against what will be tough opposition."
