Copsewood spurred on by Cup tie
 Women's Football News 5 Jan 2013
Copsewood (Coventry) are savouring the chance to play Tottenham Hotspur in the F.A.Women's Cup and possibly claim their first Premier League scalp.
The Midland Combination side have done well in the league this season and manager Ryan Conneely admitted to Women's Soccer Scene that they are relishing taking on the Southern Division side. "Obviously its an exciting tie for the club," he saud. "It's the first time we have reached the Second Round of the FA Cup in five years, so we are delighted to be here and if we apply ourselves well enough, then there is a chance we could go one step further and reach the Third Round.
"Tottenham are going to be favourites for the match, and rightly so, and if they play to their maximum ability then they should beat us. However, we strongly believe that on our day we could match any team from the league above and at the beginning of the season we fancied ourselves to be playing at that level this time next year. Frustratingly, results have not gone our way in the league this season and we have struggled to play to anywhere near the standards we set ourselves at the beginning of the season but this is cup football and it will be a case of which team is better on the day."
Nicola Foskett, who collected the league's top goalscorer award last season and is the club's joint leading scorer this term is really looking forward to the opportunity to test herself against superior opposistion. "From my point of view, it is a great chance for me to test myself against defenders from a higher level," she enthused. "Having won the golden boot award for our league last year, I am currently in a close battle along with my fellow teammate Abiyola Riley to win the award again this year. Both of us believe that we can score goals at any level and this game gives us the chance to prove that.
"At full strength our team is capable of competing against teams from the league above but we need to be at our very best if we are to give Tottenham a good game. The day before our game, Coventry City men's team face Tottenham in the FA Cup. I wonder what the odds are on a 'teams from Coventry double' happening that weekend?"
