Leafield Athletic face local rivals Sporting Club Albion in the Third Round of the FA Women's Cup on Sunday, in what is a 10.30am kick off at Tally Ho, Edgbaston.
Both sides have met many times over the years with Leafield edging Albion to win a thrilling FA Cup tie a few seasons ago. Since then Albion have consolidated themselves in the league above Leafield, who are looking to follow in their footsteps and ply their trade at Premier League level within the next couple of seasons.
Although Leafield are currently unbeaten in all competitions and having only dropped two league points in the Midland Combination, they will still be considered as underdogs. However, with no less than six ex-Albion players likely to feature in the home team squad they will be determined to match their opponents all the way.
"We're really looking forward to the game," said Leafield captain and ex-Albion player Jess Lippiatt. "It will be a challenge as SCA are in the league above us, but we've had a great season so far and have nothing to fear.
"Although we'll be the underdogs, we are confident we can put in a good performance and hopefully progress to the next round. The FA Cup is always an exciting competition to be involved in but given the local rivalry of this tie, as well as us having some former SCA players in our ranks, it should only add to the excitement and spirit of the whole occasion."
