Scotland name squad to face USA
 Women's Football News 31 Jan 2013
Scotland name squad to face USA - 31 Jan 2013 - Women's Football NewsScotland coach Anna Signeul has named her squad for the upcoming double header of friendly internationals against Olympic champions USA.
The first of the matches will take place at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday 9th February (5pm local time). The teams will meet again on the following Wednesday, 13 February at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee (kick off tbc).
However Scotland will be missing three of their regulars when they fly out to take on the world's number one ranked team next week. Defensive pairing Rachel Corsie and Ifeoma Dieke both miss out due to long term knee injuries, Corsie sustaining hers during the heartbreaking Euro 2013 play-off second leg defeat to Spain whilst Dieke has not played since the Olympic Games back in July. Midfielder Megan Sneddon will not travel due to work commitments.
Meanwhile three players have been recalled to the squad. Leanne Crichton is hoping to add to her two caps, the last of which she picked up in 2009. Her club team mate Suzanne Malone is back in the squad after winning three caps in 2007. Joelle Murray also returns following her last appearance against Poland in 2012.
This will be the first time that Scotland have played since that play-off battle with Spain back in October, when a goal in the last minute of extra time saw the home side go through 4-3 on aggregate.
Scotland have met the United States on two previous occasions, the first of which was in September 2002 when the USA triumphed 8-2 at Columbus Crew Stadium. The last occasion was a much closer affair, in the Cyprus Cup in March 2008 when the match in Paralimni finished 2-1 in the United States' favour, Suzanne Grant scoring a late consolation for Scotland.
