Bridgwater College's Women's Football Development Squad head coach, Michelle Yeowell, has been appointed as the new South West England Colleges football manager.
Michelle, who is also the head coach to the Under-15 team at the Somerset FA Girls Centre of Excellence, will be responsible for overseeing trials for female college players across the South West, which is the first phase of trials for the England Colleges national team. Once the regional team has been selected Michelle will manage and oversee the team play at Bisham Abbey in Berkshire against other regions as part of the second phase of the national team selection.
Michelle said: "I am extremely proud to be offered this role and see this as an excellent opportunity to share practices with other colleagues regionally and nationally in order to develop the Women's Football Development programme here at Bridgwater College. The opportunity to work within the England Colleges female football programme will undoubtedly enhance my own coaching skills and I can pass this onto players at Bridgwater College."
Jason Gunningham, Section Leader for Sports and Public Services, said: "We are delighted to have Michelle involved in the Women's College football regional programme. She is an outstanding coach and very focussed on giving her support to develop young female footballers. Her dedication and expertise has already had a positive impact on our female players at Bridgwater College."
