Hampton Football Club has recently unveiled a 25-year female football development plan, which will see the club offer unrivalled opportunities for girls in and around the city.
As well as outlining the progression of playing opportunities the plan also details the additional facilities required and includes the creation of a new flagship playing facility that will allow them to move up to FA Women's Premier League level.
The Player Development section of the plan revolves around four elements:
- Fundamental Skill Development (6 to 9 years old)
- Development of the player (10 to 14 years old)
- Preparing the player to compete (15 to 18 years old)
- Developing winning players (18+ years old)
The full development plan clearly identifies what is involved at each of these development stages in a players career and the club are now able to offer a total solution for female football allowing players to join the club at any age and in turn have an opportunity to move in to a semi-professional team if ability allows.
In line with the plan HFC are rolling out preparations to introduce an additional Under-14 and a Transition squad for the 2013-14 season, creating opportunities for girls from 5 years old until they are too old to play any longer. But once they are too old the opportunities do not stop as they then have the opportunity to embark on a coaching career.
The Under-14 squad will provide an opportunity for girls currently in school years 7 and 8 to join the city's most dynamic club at an early stage in their playing career. Training for this squad will run on a Sunday 1pm-2pm, starting 28th April.
For girls in school years 10, 11 and 12 who are looking to move into open age football over the next two seasons the transition squad will offer an opportunity. The players who are successful in gaining entry to this squad will be the first phase of new players to have the opportunity to move on to become semi-professional players by the 2023-24 season. Trails for this squad will take place on Sunday 26th May.
