The top two both suffered defeats as the Southern Division title race gathered further pace on Sunday.
Leaders Millwall Lionesses received a 2-0 setback at home to improving Gillingham, who claimed the points as Rachel Ahern gave them a first half lead and Jade Keogh wrapped up the points after the break.
Millwall retain their three point lead though as second placed Reading FC Women were unable to capitalise, going down to a 1-0 defeat away to Colchester Utd. Zoe Rushen scored the only goal of the game for the U's with a 25-yard strike during the first half.
Brighton & Hove Albion meanwhile are a further two points adrift after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Queen's Park Rangers. Elly Maggs sent Rangers into the lead after eight minutes but Brighton hit back and drew level on the stroke of half time when Catherine O'Hagan scored with a looping header. Two minutes into the second half, O'Hagan finished off a good move for her second goal but Rangers responded to grab themselves a share of the spoils when Kim Meadows equalised with twenty minutes remaining.
The day's main beneficiaries were West Ham Utd who defeated Lewes 1-0 and can bring themselves into the fray by winning their games in hand. Kelley Blanchflower scored the only goal of the game after 25 minutes to give the Hammers' title challenge a big boost.
