Sheffield FC have opened up a huge eight point lead at the top of the Northern Division following their 3-0 victory over Sporting Club Albion.
Jodie Michalska put Sheffield in front after nine minutes and they went on to secure the points thanks to second half strikes from Carla Ward and Suzanne Davies.
Nottingham Forest moved into second place on the back of a 3-1 success away to Blackburn Rovers. Amber Hughes struck twice to send Forest two ahead inside the opening quarter of the game, before Keeleigh Savage reduced the arrears for the home side. Blackburn pressed hard to try and get back on level terms but Natasha Meade wrapped up a vital win for Forest midway through the second half.
There was late drama at Wolverhampton Wanderers where the home side staged a comeback to beat Preston North End 2-1 and lift themselves into mid-table. After chances at both ends, Preston took the lead midway through the second half when Tiffany Robinson scored from a corner but with two minutes left, Wolves levelled the scores as Layla Slater turned the ball home following a free kick. As the game went into injury time, Becky Hall set up Jamillah Palmer to score the winner for Wolves and deal a huge blow to Preston's title challenge.
The two teams at the foot of the table met each other in a derby match and it was Derby County who emerged as 2-1 winners over Leicester City. Two first half goals from Michelle Kilmartin turned out to be enough to give Derby victory, despite Kim Farrow pulling a goal back for Leicester after the break.
