Scotland defeat England in La Manga
 Women's Football News 7 Mar 2013
Goals in either half from Zoe Ness and Caroline Weir gave Scotland Under-19 a 2-1 win over England Under-19 in their opening match in La Manga.
Ness opened the scoring with just two minutes gone, rounding the England goalkeeper to finish from a tight angle.
Weir scored a fine individual goal early in the second half, picking up the ball in midfield and driving in to space to unleash a long range effort. Melissa Lawley was on target for England three minutes later but Scotland held out to claim victory.
Scotland Coach Michelle Barr said: "There were fantastic performances all over the pitch today. England had a lot of possession, but we were composed and created two very good goals.
"There are a few new faces in the squad with some younger players coming through, but they gelled very well. Lizzie Arnot has just turned 17 and played in the centre of midfield today. Her work rate was excellent.
"Then you look at Zoe Ness, who is still only 16 but plays well beyond her years. She led the line for us, held the ball up, and again gave us a great work rate. I could pick out performances like that all over the pitch.
"We only have one rest day before our next game against Iceland, which will be an entirely different challenge. They are a tall, athletic side so we can expect a physical game."
