Bristol Academy held their nerve to win a penalty shootout with Charlton Athletic and reach the Reserve Section League Cup Final for the second time in three years. The Addicks did go ahead four minutes before half time when Harley Bennett headed in a Katie Hardaker corner but Academy levelled in the second half through an Ellie Leek penalty. Extra time could not decide a winner and it was Academy who triumphed 3-1 on spot kicks.
The Final against Chelsea will take place on Sunday 24th March at Sutton United FC with a 2pm kick off.
Midlands/North Division One
Everton have taken a massive stride towards winning the title for the third year in succession after they defeated Manchester City 2-1 in their top of the table clash. The result takes the Toffees back to the summit and they require four more points from three games to be crowned Champions once again. Blackburn Rovers still have a chance of finishing in second place and they kept those hopes up by winning 2-0 at Nottingham Forest. Sunderland and Coventry City finished level at 1-1 with goals from Jadene Lynch and Sami Ryder respectively.
Midlands/North Division Two
Doncaster Rovers Belles picked up one of the three wins they require to secure the title with a 6-1 success at Derby County. Katie Waddell hit a hat-trick for the Belles, who have four games left to play, with the others coming from Brooke Smith, Ellie Chandler and Kirstie Nicholls. Wolverhampton Wanderers' hopes of a top two place took a slight knock as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke City.
Southern Division One
The battle at the top remains tight and Chelsea held on to the leadership following their 1-1 draw with Colchester Utd, Aishah Bolaji scoring the table toppers' goal. Arsenal meanwhile went down to a surprise 1-0 defeat away to Cardiff City, Naomi Clipston netting the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
Southern Division Two
Leaders Watford have edged a point clear after drawing 1-1 with Queen's Park Rangers. Chloe Fogarty gave Rangers a first half lead with Watford equalising after the break through Ashleigh Deacon. Brighton & Hove Albion kept their title hopes alive by beating Yeovil Town 5-1, Shannon Osman did give Yeovil a first minute lead before Paige Adams (2), Ellie Lock, Libby Pritchard and Megan Stow hit back to earn the points for the Seagulls.
