Kilwinning SC's first ever season in the Scottish Women's Premier League has been given a huge boost by the signing of the country's greatest woman footballer, Julie Fleeting.
The 32-year-old striker, with an astonishing record of 116 goals in 120 caps for her country, made her debut in the Premier League Cup tie with Celtic on Sunday after having spent the last nine years at Arsenal, winning every major honour in the game.
The news of Fleeting's signing was announced via the club's official Twitter page, which read: "Exciting times as we prepare to take on Celtic in the first league cup tie at Garscube on Sunday. Please welcome our latest signing Julie Fleeting. Julie will provide much experience to the squad with hopefully the addition of a goal or two."
Julie started her senior career with Ayr United and, after a spell in the United States with San Diego Spirit, she returned home to join Ross County before signing for Arsenal in 2004. She was a part of the Gunners' team which won the UEFA Women's Cup in 2006-07 and notably scored a hat-trick in the 2004 F.A.Women's Cup Final against Charlton Athletic.
