Stoke City clinched the Midland Combination title on Tuesday night with a 1-0 victory over Leafield Athletic.
After finishing as runners-up to Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, Stoke went into the season as favourites to go one better this time around but did not get off to the best of starts, winning one of their opening three matches and going down to defeat at home to Curzon Ashton.
Leafield had made a flying start and led for much of the season, but from that Curzon defeat, Stoke embarked on a run of 13 straight wins which left them requiring a win against Leafield in order to secure the title with three matches still to play.
Chantelle Gallagher scored the only goal of the game to confirm City as Champions and guarantee promotion to the Premier League, completing a magnificent seven days for the club, adding to their Staffordshire Cup success a week earlier in which they beat their own reserve side 5-1 in the Final.
The result also leaves a three-way battle for the runners-up position with Leafield, Radcliffe Olympic and Leicester City Ladies all in with a shout.
Stoke will have a chance to complete a 'treble' on Sunday 28th April when they play Leafield in the Midland Combination League Cup Final at Stafford Rangers F.C.
