Five-star Ashmoor!
 Women's Football News 6 Apr 2013

Ashmoor Ladies are the winners of the Devon Women's Supplementary Cup thanks to a 12 minute hat-trick by Sian Chapman In the second half, which guided them to a 5-1 win over Barnstaple Ladies in the Final at Newton Abbot.

Ashmoor Ladies almost scored in the first minute when a shot by Chapman, went Just by the Barnstaple Ladles goalkeeper Natalie Hubble's right hand post, and two minutes later Hubble had to dive to her left to save an effort from Emily Hannaford.

On 11 minutes a cross from the right by Ashmoor's Hannaford could only be parried by Barnstaple keeper Hubble, and as the ball bubbled on the goal-line, Player of the Match Maria Warman was first to react, to find the back of the net to give Ashmoor a 1-0 lead.

Ashmoor keeper Beth Marshall was then called into action to come running out to gather a shot from Barnstaple's Rachel Short, then she cleared away from the advancing Sophie Parish, and thirdly was only able to palm away a corner from Ellie Haywood, but this was cleared.

In the 19th minute Ashmoor's Natalie Warman had a shot land on the top netting, and moments later Chapman broke on the left to find Abl Breban, who squared the ball to Natalie Warman, but her shot rebounded off the Barnstaple bar.

On 31 minutes Harriet Mackay broke through for Barnstaple Ladies, but she was fouled in the penalty area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Gemma Knight to place the spot kick out of the reach of keeper Marshall to level the score at 1-1.

Ashmoor's Natalie Warman then had two chances but both were off target.

At the other end a string of six passes put together by Barnstaple Ladles split the Ashmoor defence, only for Macey's shot to be saved low down by the Ashmoor keeper Marshall.

On the stroke of half time, Ashmoor's Hannaford broke through, but the Barnstaple captain Sophie Russell who was having a good game, made a decisive tackle to deny the striker.

Two minutes into the second half Ashmoor went 2-1 up when Natalie Warman turned a defender, and set up Marla Warman for an easy tap in, and on 50 minutes Chapman had a shot go close.

On 58 minutes Ashmoor's Chapman netted her first when she broke through to shoot past keeper Hubble. Then seven minutes later Chapman ran onto a long clearance by her keeper Marshall to lob the Barnstaple keeper Hubble, and completed her hat trlck on 70 minutes again running through to beat Hubble.

Ashmoor did have another couple of chances, but Barnstaple's Russell made two important challenges to stop both Hannaford and Natalie Warman from scoring.

At the end of the match the cup was presented by the sponsors Aquarius of Dawlish to the triumphant Ashmoor Ladles team.
