Sheffield FC's unbeaten start to the season in the Northern Division came to an end as they were beaten 3-1 by Blackburn Rovers. Rhiannon Roberts gave Rovers a first half lead and they went on to clinch victory with further strikes from Evie Manning and Jade Boulton, with Jodie Michalska scoring Sheffield's consolation. Sheffield's lead at the top has now been cut to four points by Nottingham Forest who were 4-2 winners away to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Dani Selmes got Wolves off to a great start, giving them a third minute lead, but Forest hit back strongly with Aileen Whelan, Natasha Meade and Andi Bell all scoring to put them in control at the break. Philippa Wilson gave Wolves late hope when she pulled a goal back but Forest sewed up the points a minute later when Whelan lobbed home her second goal and eighth of the season. Preston North End and Sporting Club Albion shared six goals in an entertaining meeting. Gemma Watson scored twice and Melissa Ball the other for Preston while Albion, who remain in third place, replied through a Robyn James brace and Ashleigh Neville. Sandwiched inbetween the two teams in fourth place now are Newcastle Utd who ran out 5-1 victors against Leicester City, who remain five points adrift at the foot of the table. Stacy Crooks and Beth Gardner ensured that the Magpies were two ahead inside the opening quarter of the game and after the break, Crooks went on to complete a hat-trick - which takes her tally for the season to 12 - and Charlotte Potts rounded off the scoring five minutes from time.
