Middlesbrough lifted the North Riding County FA Ladies Cup after beating a strong York City side 3-0.
Having won the competition for the past three seasons, York started as favourites but with only ten minutes on the clock, Jasmine McNaught put Boro ahead with a fine strike to stun the visitors.
York played well but the battling Sarah Manning in Boro's midfield controlled the game for long spells with some strong tackling and perfect distribution. It wasn't long before they were rewarded when Emily Scott scored a contender for "Goal of the Season" with a strike from some 35 yards to put the Boro 2-0 up before the half time whistle.
Boro came out in the second half determined to put the game to bed and Sarah Manning's Man of the Match display was rewarded when she scored Boro's third after a great through ball saw her beat three defenders before cooly slotting the ball past the oncoming York City keeper to kill off the tie.
After a very successful season under the new management of Gemma Grainger, this was the just rewards this young team deserved.
