Cardiff City FC ran riot against Caernarfon Town and a victory in their final match should see them crowned Welsh Premier Womens League Champions for the first time.
Danielle Broadhurst, Amy Wathan and Rachel Rowe all spearheaded the win with four goals apiece whilst Catherine Walsh weighed in by bagging a hat-trick. Mali Summers completed the tally to keep her side three points clear but with an enormous advantage in goal difference.
Cardiff Met Ladies kept up the pressure with a 4-2 victory at Aberystwyth Town but will have to rely on a slip up if they are to defend their title. An own goal put them ahead after three minutes and Emily Brown quickly added a second. Steph Turner made it three after the break but the students needed to withstand a fightback from Aberystwyth, who pulled goals back through Gemma Kay and Sam Gaunt, before Hannah Billingham made the points safe in injury time.
The next two teams in the table came face to face with each other and it was third placed Wrexham who emerged as 1-0 winners on the day, Alys Hinchcliffe netting the only goal of the game with fifteen minutes remaining.
