Brislington completed the Somerset League and Cup 'double' with a 7-0 victory over Portishead in the League Cup Final at Odd Down.
From the kick off, Brislilngton were quickly into their stride and scored an early goal when a cross from Sophie Whelan was met perfectly by Hollie Hodgson to volley into the top of the net from close range.
Several other close calls went by as Portishead defended well and posed a threat of their own on the break. Brislington doubled their lead though when Charlotte Reardon deftly lobbed the oncoming keeper from 20 yards out. This was quickly followed by a third for Emily Plummer who broke free to calmly round the keeper to score, and a fourth when Hollie Hodgson knocked in a close range shot from a Sophie Whelan corner for her second.
The second half saw three more goals with Emily Plummer scoring her second from a well placed shot from the edge of the box, Leah Milkins guiding a shot around a defender from inside the penalty area and finally Jazz Fraiser with a well struck shot into the top corner. A late penalty saw a great save from the Portishead keeper to deny Brislington a further goal.
Brislington, who are managed by Jay Whelan and Matt Osborne and coached by Ann Marie Heatherson, now face Bridgwater Town in the Somerset FA Junior County Cup Final on Friday 24th May, aiming to improve on their league and cup double.
