Cardiff City FC secured their first ever Welsh Premier Women's League title with a 5-2 victory over Wrexham at the Cardiff City Stadium.
City needed a win in order to be confirmed as Champions and they were put well on the way when Rachel Rowe gave them the lead and Danielle Broadhurst added a brace ahead of half time. Lowri Edwards pulled one back for Wrexham in the second half but Alicia Davies restored the three-goal advantage straight away, Katie Edwards reduced the arrears once again before Davies rounded off a great season for her side with the fifth goal, two minutes from time.
Cardiff Met Ladies did all they could on the day but they will have to settle for second place despite beating Llandudno Junction 8-1. Emily Brown opened the scoring after twenty minutes and the students netted further goals before half time through Dana Hinton, Jaz Thomas and Emily Allen. Brown grabbed her second early after the restart and although Sophie Owen pulled one back for Llandudno on the hour mark, Thomas and Allen completed their doubles and Steph Turner rounded off the scoring in the dying minutes.
Aberystwyth Town ended the season in good heart as they ran out 4-1 winners away to Caernarfon Town. Claire Thomas gave Aber the lead and an Anna Jones own goal meant that they led by two goals at the break. Kelly Thomas made it three just before the hour with Katie Bowe reducing the deficit for the home side, before Mel Davies completed the tally for Aber with five minutes remaining.
