With only a few days to go before the pinnacle match of the women's football season, students from Doncaster welcomed FA Women's Cup finalists Kelly Smith and Kim Little.
The stars from Arsenal Ladies came along with the prestigious FA Women's Cup trophy ahead of the FA Women's Cup Final, taking place this Sunday 26th May at Keepmoat Stadium (KO 3pm) in which the Gunners will play FA WSL leaders Bristol Academy.
Recently voted PFA player of the year Kim Little and Kelly Smith met a group of students from Doncaster College at Keepmoat Stadium before heading to Balby Carr Community Sports & Science College. The teenagers took part in coaching sessions with the players and an FA coach, and were able to ask their burning questions about women's football. They also showed their delight in having their photo taken with the historic piece of silverware and Berry, the FA Women's Super League mascot.
It is hoped that the visit will inspire the students of Doncaster and football fans across the region to come and celebrate the FA Women's Cup Final coming to town and see the best of women's football.
Kelly Smith said: "We're very pleased to be meeting students in Doncaster. We are trying to encourage more girls to play football and get them to come out and support us on Sunday. It's crucial to get into the communities and make them aware there is a Cup Final being played at a top level to get as much interest as possible."
