The hearing for Doncaster Rovers Belles' appeal against their relegation from the top tier of the FA WSL next season has been put back for a couple of weeks.
The FA has issued the following statement:
Following on from a preliminary hearing this week, the Independent Appeal Board adjourned the Doncaster Rovers Belles appeal hearing until Tuesday 25 June to give the club more time to fully prepare their case.
The FA will make no further comment until the appeal process is completed.
Doncaster Rovers Belles vice chairman Alan Smart has also stated the following:
Whilst we were prepared to make our case at the appeal meeting yesterday; we welcome the FA's decision announced today. Our appeal has always been about more than just the Belles - it goes to the heart of the future development of women's football in England and we are grateful to the FA for allowing us the opportunity to put our case to a full hearing.
The club, its players and staff, have been overwhelmed and humbled by the response to our current situation. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to every individual and organisation, inside and outside the football community, who have expressed their support for us, both in public and in private. Without doubt it is your support that sustains us and we are truly grateful.
The last few weeks have been an immense strain on the club's resources. We could not have come this far without the financial assistance of our friends, old and new, but the costs are on-going. Accordingly we have today established a Fighting Fund: if you are able and willing to, please make a donation via Lloyds TSB Sort 309268 Account 00556100. Be assured that every contribution, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and appreciated and that every penny will be spent in support of women's football.
The club will continue to engage positively with the FA to resolve this matter for the benefit of all but we shall not be making any further public statement until after the hearing on 25 June 2013.
