Scotland hit seven
 Women's Football News 13 Jun 2013

Scotland's preparations for this year's UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship first qualifying round have been galvanized by a resounding 7-0 win against Wales at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh.

Celtic's Carla Jackson netted a brace while Courtney Whyte, Kirsty Howat, Abigail Harrison, Alyshia Walker and Erin Cuthbert also made it onto the scoresheet.

Set piece training gound drills paid off within two minutes as Whyte headed home from a clever free kick.

Cuthbert's 64th minute finish after beating two players on the edge of the box was another standout goal along with Walker's cool strike from ten yards following an intricate passing move with three team mates.

The challenge match was part of the squad's build up to the mini-tournament in Aberdeen in August where Pauline Hamill's side will take on Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and Montenegro for a place in the elite round of the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship.

Scotland will take on Wales again on Friday at Ainslie Park, kick off 1pm.

Speaking after the game, Pauline Hamill said: "This is an ambitious squad who want to develop all the time. Tonight's performance shows that.

"I was delighted with the attitude of the players. They were committed to a short passing style of play and pulled off the rehearsed set pieces really well.

"I will be looking to give all of the squad the opportunity to play on Friday as we will need all 18 players ready for August's qualifiers."
