Italy 0 Finland 0
The Euro 2013 Finals opened up at Halmstad but did not enjoy the most exciting of starts as Italy and Finland battled out a drab goalless draw.
Italy did most of the attacking throughout the game but were left frustrated as they failed to break down a negative Finland side which produced only three attempts on goal all match.
The pattern of the match was established early on with Italy pressing forward, Alice Parisi slicing a shot well wide and then a dangerous run and shot by Melania Gabbiadini was averted by Tinja-Riikka Korpela.
A good move saw Elisa Bartoli and Patrizia Panico set up a chance for Gabbiadini who drove an angled shot narrowly wide of the far post but this was to be a rare sight on goal for Antonio Cabrini's side ahead of the break.
In the second half, Italy continued to attack but found themselves constantly frustrated as they could not find a way through, going closest when Panico missed her kick when well positioned.
A rare attack by Finland almost led to a breakthrough as Jaana Lyytikainen broke down the left and crossed but Anna Westerlund and Nora Heroum left the ball to each other and the chance was lost. Italy hit back with Alessia Tuttino breaking into the area but Korpela advanced to block her effort and the game drifted to a draw.
