Germany 0 Holland 0
Holders Germany saw their 19-match winning streak in the competition come to an end as the Euro 2013 Finals produced their fourth draw in successive matches.
After surviving an early German onslaught, the Dutch side could even have picked up a sensational victory and were well worthy of the result on the night.
Germany made a flying start to the match as they sought an early strike with Celia Okoyino Da Mbabi and Leonie Maier both having chances whilst Nadine Kessler produced a firm shot which was charged down by the Dutch defence.
Dzsenifer Marozsan passed up the best chance so far when she shot wide with only Loes Geurts to beat but Holland gradually weathered the initial storm and began to threaten themselves.
Lieke Martens whipped in a long range shot which was palmed away by Nadine Angerer at full stretch and the German captain did even better to pull off an excellent save from a Kirsten van de Ven header.
Four years ago, ultra-negative tactics by Holland carried them through to the semi finals but there were no signs this time around as they sought to take the game to Germany at every opportunity. They were however pinned back for periods of the match but dug deep when under pressure, making sure that Geurts was well protected.
A greater piece of composure could well have led to the Dutch going in front when Angerer raced from goal to deny Manon Melis but miscued her clearance as far as Renee Slegers who hurried her shot back at goal and failed to find the target. Angerer was again called into action as the speedy Melis broke clear and tried to guide her shot home but she was denied by the keeper's boot.
Germany pressed again late on with Da Mbabi firing a late free kick into the wall and the Dutch needing to withstand a series of late corners. However in the last 30 seconds of the game, a breakaway gave Holland a golden chance for victory when Melis ran through with Danielle Van de Donk for company in a two-on-one situation, however she underhit her pass, allowing Annike Krahn to tidy up the situation before the final whistle blew seconds later.
