Denmark 1 (Brogaard 29) Finland 1 (Sjolund 87)
Denmark face an anxious 48-hour wait to see if they will play any further part in the Euro 2013 Finals after they were pegged back by a late equaliser from Finland.
A draw was not the result that either team wanted and despite their late fightback, Finland become the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
Eager to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Italy, Denmark pressed for an early strike and Nadia Nadim went close early on as her chip was held by Minna Meriluoto. Pernille Harder also tested Meriluoto following a strong run as the Danes continued to call the early shots.
Nadim was in lively form up front and was unlucky not to give her side the lead when she met a Cecilie Sandvej cross but her header brought out a fine diving save from Meriluoto.
Harder then found the net with a firm header from Nadim's cross but her celebrations were cut short by an offside flag, however replays showed that an error was made and that the goal should have stood.
Denmark could soon celebrate for real though as they finally made the breakthrough. Mariann Knudsen's free kick was cleared by Tiina Saario but only as far as Mia Brogaard who drove home via a deflection from the edge of the area for her second goal in as many matches.
The pattern of the match continued after the break with Denmark pushing for a second goal which looked likely to sew up the points. Julie Rydahl Bukh drove a shot inches over the bar but Finland stood firm to keep themselves in the game.
Harder twice went close with shots that were charged down but Denmark could not increase their advantage and Finland sought a way back into the game.
With three minutes left, Finland won a corner on the right and Emmi Alanen's kick picked out Annica Sjolund who found the roof of the net with a bullet header to level the scores.
Finland could even have snatched victory in injury time as Sanna Talonen laid the ball back to Natalia Kuikka whose powerful shot looked destined for the net but Stina Petersen stuck out a boot to somehow divert the ball around the post.
Moments later the final whistle sounded to end Finland's participation in the competition and, unless results go their way, Denmark look set to join them.
