New arrivals at Doncaster
 Women's Football News 28 Jul 2013
Doncaster Rovers Belles have boosted their squad ahead of the re-commencement of the FA WSL with five new signings.
After training with the club recently, midfielder Julie Melrose has joined the Belles until the end of the 2013 season. Julie, who joins from Glasgow City, will add her technical ability to the midfield with games coming thick and fast.
She will wear the number seven shirt previously of Emma Thomson who is returning to the USA for academic and coaching purposes.
The Belles have also signed Danielle Cox and Rhiannon Roberts from Blackburn Rovers. Danielle arrives in central defence, the former Belle has penned a 15-month contract to the end of the 2014 season. Danielle is a versatile player, who is technically second to none.
Rhiannon is a central defender who has also signed a 15-month contract. Rhiannon is a competitive defender, who will throw her body on the line and will wear the number 20 shirt.
Emma Johnson, a former Belles player, arrives from Sheffield FC. Emma is another versatile squad member and although young, she will add experience to the squad.
Lauren Cresswell arrives from Lincoln Ladies and brings FA WSL experience to the defensive line. Working as a community coach, Lauren brings that experience to the club in an off field capacity and, like Emma, has penned a 15-month contract. She is a cultured left sided player that will improve the squad defensively and going forward.
As well as the new signings, the Belles have also been busy securing the immediate futures of three key members of their current first team squad.
It won't come as much of a surprise to Belles fans that Jess Sigsworth, who declared live on BBC Look North that she intended to stay at the club, has signed a new contract. Jess, who recently attended an England Under-19 training camp, will also further her academic career at Sheffield Hallam University whilst playing for the club.
Joining Jess in committing her future to the Belles is her fellow 'twin tank', Millie Bright who has been for many a standout performer this season, and fans will surely be delighted to see her sign on the dotted line. Millie has recently returned from an England Under-23 training camp and she too will be looking to further her academic career through the club.
Another signing that is sure to please is that of Lyndsey Cunningham. The reliable defender has also signed a new deal, which will delight fans and team mates alike.
The club is delighted that these players have committed their futures to the club and look forward to seeing how they progress throughout the remainder of this campaign and next season.
