UEFA today announced the names of the three shortlisted nominees who will compete for the title of UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe 2013, an award launched this season.
The shortlist of the top three players who received the most points overall, in alphabetical order, is: Nadine Angerer (1. FFC Frankfurt & Germany), Lena Goessling (VfL Wolfsburg & Germany) and Lotta Schelin (Olympique Lyonnais & Sweden).
The shortlist of the top ten players was provided by the coaches of the teams taking part in UEFA Women's Euro 2013, as well as the coaches of the clubs which participated in last season's UEFA Women's Champions League quarter finals. A jury composed of 18 journalists, each committed to supporting women's football, and selected by ESM, have voted for the shortlist of the top three players and will cast their votes again to determine the winner.
The award will be presented to the winner during the 2013-14 UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32 and 16 draws, which will take place on 5th September at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
UEFA also revealed a list of the players placed fourth to tenth in Europe as a consequence of those votes:
4 - Nadine Kessler (VfL Wolfsburg & Germany)
5 - Veronica Boquete (Tyreso FF & Spain)
6 - Caroline Seger (Tyreso FF & Sweden)
7 - Nilla Fischer (Linkoping FC & Sweden)
8 - Celia Okoyino da Mbabi (1. FFC Frankfurt & Germany)
9 - Wendie Renard (Olympique Lyonnais & France)
10 - Louisa Necib (Olympique Lyonnais & France)
