Evening of family fun at Chelsea - 21 Aug 2013 - Women's Football NewsChelsea are inviting fans to come down to Staines Town FC to be part of an exciting evening of FA Women's Super League action and family fun, when they take on Arsenal on Thursday 29th August, 7.30pm.
Both sides will be looking forward to showcasing the skills and quality of women's football on national television when the game is broadcast live on BT Sport.
It is the last time the two sides will meet this FA WSL season and it promises to be a London derby not to be missed. The Blues will be up for the challenge following their narrow defeat against the FA WSL leaders Liverpool while Arsenal will want to continue their march to the top of the table.
With tickets costing only £5 for an adult and £3 for children and concessions, the match offers a perfect family occasion to watch women's football at an affordable price. In addition, Chelsea FC season ticket holders and Chelsea FC members can purchase a ticket for just £1 at the gate.
Prior to seeing the two teams in action, fans aged 5-17 years old are invited to take part in a FREE, interactive fanzone, brought by Continental Tyres. Games include batak boards, a speed cage, a target shoot inflatable plus a new trailer that houses digital stations and the FA WSL and Cyprus Cup trophies. Chelsea Ladies and England star Claire Rafferty will be in attendance to meet and greet the youngsters and staff from Middlesex FA will be on hand to provide information on local football opportunities.
The loveable FA WSL mascot Berry the bear and Chelsea FC new mascot Bridget the Lioness will also be in attendance and to add to the enhanced fan experience, there will be hair braiding and face painting, all of which will take place outside the stadium from 5.30pm. All the Under-16s who register at the fanzone will get free entry into the game.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said: "We are delighted that this home match is to be shown live on BT Sport and we are hoping to show some top class women's football. We are confident that this London derby will attract a good crowd plus with both a free interactive fanzone and lots of entertainment going on, it will hopefully inspire as many people as possible to come to the game."
Laura Hardy, sponsorship manager at Continental Tyres, added: "It is fantastic that BT Sport are broadcasting this exciting FA WSL match. This is set to be a great family occasion, showcasing top class women's football, as well as offering supporters the opportunity to take part in the interactive fanzone."
